Based in Charlotte, NC, Deore is a singer-songwriter whose writings are inspired by the nuances of love, kink, dominance, and submission. 

During the summer of 2012, Deore moved to Richmond, Virginia and was immediately smitten by the local music scene. For the next 5 years she would front a variety of musical projects, with genres ranging from indie-folk to shoe-gaze punk. When she wasn’t playing basement shows, she was performing in venues such as Strange Matter, the Canal Club, and the National Theater. Her work with the well-loved Richmond band The Talkies has been featured in publications such as Style Weekly and RVA mag. 

In 2017, Deore moved to Okinawa, Japan where she was heavily influenced by Japanese culture. Her genre shifted with the scenery, and can be best described as alternative pop with glimpses of folk-punk. Her debut solo EP Sink Or Swim was released in January 2020, and has been featured on WRIR 97.3 as well as the “I am a Fan of...” podcast. In 2021, Deore released her single “Soft”, a love ballad about strength found in softness and sensitivity. She then relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she has released multiple  singles recorded  with Sioux Sioux studios. 

Deore just completed her second EP "THE BRAT EP" which will be  released February 9th, 2024. Her single track "catch me if you can" to be released January 12, 2024. 

  Her influences include Melanie Martinez, Tegan and Sara and Damien Rice.

Deore

Deore (Marissa Butler) is a 29 year old up and coming  singer/songwriter based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Writing primarily in the indie-pop/singer-songwriter genre, Deore's lyrics explore themes of dominance, submission, consensual power exchange, and the rich emotional experiences of BDSM. Deore's pulls the listener into these topics through her intimate performing style, delicate yet quirky vocals, and clever lyricism. Deore just finished her next project THE BRAT EP with Jason Scavone of Sioux Sioux studios, to be released February 9th, 2024.
